Frame Sequential Technology

Panasonic uses Full-HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking FULL HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism.

New 3D LCD High-Speed Drive System

In order to maximize the LCD drive speed, Panasonic developed a high-speed drive system called APD (Advanced Predischarge Driver) together with a new panel. This faster drive speed produces high level 3D LCD image quality with minimal double images.

3D Panel with High-Speed Response

Panasonic also further improved the IPS Panel's high-speed response. By narrowing the gap between cells and using a smooth flowing liquid crystal material, it is possible to increase the response speed. As a result, 3D images, which require both left- and right-eye images, are rendered on the IPS Alpha Panel clearly and vividly.

High-Precision 3D Eyewear Control Technology

Highly precise timing control for the opening and closing of the shutters minimizes unwanted light leakage to enable clear 3D viewing. The remarkable beauty of the FULL HD 3D images is further ensured by employing a Panasonic system for both VIERA 3DTV and 3D Eyewear to achieve precisely linked operation.

2D-3D Conversion

Unique Panasonic technology converts 2D images into high-quality 3D images in real-time. The technology generates a detailed depth effect for each type of image, so the 3D effect is natural and realistic. Use your VIERA TV to enjoy Blu-ray movies, DVD movies and even ordinary TV broadcasts in 3D. The Super Resolution function allows images that were converted from 2D to 3D to be displayed in sharp, clear 3D while minimizing crosstalk. 3D images with crisp contours are also produced from 3D broadcasts using the side-by-side method.

In addition to IPS Alpha LED, Panasonic has achieved sharp, clear motion images by precisely controlling the backlight and using frame insertion. Previous frames shut out any interference to frames other than the one being rendered, to effectively reduce afterimages. Fast-moving scenes, such as those in sports and action films, are produced in intricate detail.

The wide 178°* viewing angle ensures clear images even when viewed from an angle. The backlight's wide transmission aperture enhances the contrast between light and dark, and improves the image when viewing off axis.

24p Smooth Film

VIERA gives you naturally flowing 24p images with the look and tonal characteristics of film, and familiar TV-like quality. This mode optimizes the number of frames of 24p images recorded from film sources onto media such as Blu-ray Discs™. Panasonic's advanced source analysis and frame generation deliver smooth, natural images that are faithful to the original.

DLNA / Wi-Fi Ready
